Indicted for a Felony; Bump Your Pension

In what has to be one of the most disgusting examples of how the Illinois Pension system is setup, State Rep Kieth Farnham was charged with child pornography. So what did he do? He paid into GARS for 2014 to make sure he had a full 6 years to base his retirement on. That is an increase of about $2,000 per year, according to State Rep John Cabello, who is working to fix this loophole.

Even committing a felony is not enough to stop someone from increasing their taxpayer funded pension. While Farnham is no longer a State Rep and is awaiting trial, taxpayers of Illinois are paying him an extra $2,000 a year. Here are some of his alleged disgusting comments from the criminal complaint:
