The upward momentum is likely to continue for both stocks and interest rates. Market Outlook Stocks registered another week of gains with most of the key indexes increasing by roughly 1%. The two indexes out of step with the others were the Dow (up only 0.2%) and the Russell 2000 (up 1.7%).
For the overall market trading volume has been generally constructive—increasing when the index advances and slowing when the index moves lower. Trading volume for other stock indexes has been more erratic and inconclusive.
The upward momentum for the stock market remains intact. Markets in motion tend to stay in motion. Barring some shock or other negative development, odds continue to further increases in stock prices.
Longer-term interest rates also continue to work their way higher. The momentum here is also upward and is likely to continue in the period ahead.
