The solution to secure the Schools is much simpler and cost efficient then the resolutions that will emanate from the minds of the Political class. In fact school security is quite affordable and does not require every teacher to be carrying a gun nor should they become security personnel. It will require architectural changes and it will require redirecting of existing staffing resources which should not be an issue inside the Public Education Systems since they already have 50% over staffing and compensation levels. The solution is doable but it will only mitigate the possibility of harm to the students to an extremely high degree but never absolutely. There are technology solutions for the School System that would not only bring the education into the 21st Century from its present 17th Century operation improving the outcomes immensely while cutting the operational cost by over 70% —the “Virtual School” for grades Junior High is a superb example. The amazing thing is that with the excessive Public Education System operations the Security Systems are not better, but then the excessive cost structures are not indicative of an effective and efficient operation as we see with the US Public Education System. Too bad that there will not be a real solution here as long as the Politicians and unions are involved, but there will be a substantial increase in taxpayer costs as they enlarge their domain.
