Topinka: Youth voters often lazy, too busy, texting to vote

The Sun-Times discusses the WBEZ interview where Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka said the following when asked about the youth vote (H/T: Illinois Review):

“No,” Topinka shot back. “They don’t vote because very often they’re lazy, and they’re too busy playing with their little machines . . . They’re just too in tune with texting and not in tune with what’s going on around them.”

Topinka is another out of touch politician who has been in office for way too long. There are ways to reach out to the youth vote, but blaming them is not going to get the job done. Some groups already reaching out to the youth are:

    Topinka is the Republican version of the problem in the Public Sector. There is no competency regarding basic operations in the entire Public Sector and budgeting is something that just does not exist. The basic election and candidacy process is flawed or rigged at best depending on your view. The candidacy requirements and procedures are geared to candidates from the existing parties, insiders and Public Sector entities. The requirements favor the in established organization from the short application time period and the signatory requirements. Clearly although we think we have a Republic where any citizen could run for office we do not. When you are exclusively dependent on a party or two party system for candidates – skill, competency and honesty will perish from the operation quickly. Evolution is a great teacher why unrestricted reproduction allows for the best genetic results. Example: today the #1 problem destroying the country at every level is the excessive Public Sector operation costing over $7 Trillion annually not including the full costs of their millionaire pensions yet not a mention of reform or restructuring here by any Politician. When the corruption is unabated like it is in all the Public Sector operations and the law is complicit and used to consummate the fraud the only final outcome will be total collapse of the system for as we see Capitalism and a free market economy cannot exist when vital resources are wasted and removed.
