In November 2008 Newt Gingrich said this on the Fox News Bill O'Reilly show:

"I think there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in traditional religion.

 

And I think if you believe in historic Christianity, you have to confront the fact. And, frankly - for that matter, if you believe in the historic version of Islam or the historic version of Judaism, you have to confront the reality that these secular extremists are determined to impose on you acceptance of a series of values that are antithetical, they're the opposite, of what you're taught in Sunday school."

A while back I noted this:

"Common sense in our society isn't just needed in the area of government spending, government debt, and the government's mishandling of our free market economy. An enormous dose of common sense is required when it comes to how people address the often confused area of sexual problems. That's right, sexual problems.

 

To cite just one example - if a person isn't acting in line with their biological gender, then there is a disorientation in that person's mind. Despite what pop culture or certain TV shows would like you to believe, the male and female bodies were designed for a specific biological purpose. A person can either recognize nature or go against it.

 

In a free country, people are free to go against nature all they want in private. What they can't do - no matter how much effort they put into it - is change reality. Not all sexual activity is equal. In fact, homosexual behavior is a path to all manner of mental and physical maladies.

 

Why isn't this issue better understood? Because most people prefer not to have to discuss what we all know is the perversion of nature. And because human beings are quite fallible, it's common that their bad conscience prevents them from making a judgment about others or recognizing a simple standard."
