A New Unity and Force in the GOP

On Saturday March 20th, I was invited to speak at the Illinois Republican State Central Committee convention in Springfield by Chairman Pat Brady. My speech came at the end of the open meeting with most of the Delegates present after Pat Brady was re-elected Chairman of the ISCC unanimously.

Pat led a well organized meeting and asked each delegate to speak about his own area, and most did.

At the conclusion of the regular business Pat gave an opportunity to audience members to speak. Colonel Raymond True, Chairman of the Republican Assembly of Lake County was the only volunteer, and spoke about his local issues.

Chairman Brady then directed the committee to me and asked if I wished to speak. I'm half Irish so how could I not.

In my remarks I first referred to actions on recent problems in the GOP and how that had opened up the party to an inclusive reorganization where we could all work together. The three elements of that new unity start with this new open field in the GOP itself. The second leg of a three leg support structure is the Republican Renaissance PAC which has up to now been so busy clearing out the unproductive elements who were only interested in their own political position.

That phase is over! Those who had supported McKenna's limp creed for beating Democrats, "Be against Crooked Democrats, tax increases, don't deal in those disruptive social issues." Andy died politically under that flag and the field opened up.

The third leg of support is, or are, the many Tax, Tea Parties, independents, and other Patriots who have shown such vigor for the real ideals in the Republican Platform. These Patriots, (there are many local leaders among them) will be an important integral part of the GOP that will beat the Democrats using the vigor that comes with dedication  to the heart felt American Republican values.

Chairman Brady has promised to write new rules preventing the voting of empty districts and give SB600 life.

My remarks were greeted with applause about the new unity proclaimed here. Cheers were loud for not getting Senator Bill Brady to be just elected but be carried into the Governor's office on a mandate for changing the budget and solving the huge pension deficit that obstructs all other needed progress.

I ended my comments with a promise to donate $50,000 to start off the support of the many good candidates who came out of the primary elections. That brought every one to their feet!  We're on the way to victory through unity and optimism to win this very necessary battle for reform and survival in difficult times.
