As the minutes tick away to tomorrow's Primary Election, there is still time to help the good candidates. And you don't have to go door-to-door or show up to an official campaign phone bank to have a big impact.
The real tragedy tomorrow will be that a lot of good conservatives will cast their votes for some candidates they would never support if they had accurate information.
In the statewide races, the two most obvious examples of bad candidates benefiting from confusion are Mark Kirk for U.S. Senate - and Judy Baar Topinka in the Comptroller's race. A biased liberal media has mostly promoted these two candidates - while ignoring the facts that should make both unacceptable to all in the Republican base.
If you need to review why Mark Kirk is unsupportable - see here. And Topinka's appalling history is detailed here.
The good news is that Jim Dodge has a real chance to beat Topinka in the Comptroller's race. Jim is a real Republican and a stand-out candidate. Jim Dodge deserves to win and I truly think he would be one of the best Constitutional Officers this state has had in a long time.
And in the race for U.S. Senate, Patrick Hughes is another outstanding candidate. There are a couple of other good people in the race for U.S. Senate, but only Hughes has a realistic chance of stopping the ultra-liberal Mark Kirk.
We all have family members, friends, and co-workers who still don't have the information they need. Many are still poised to vote against their own interests tomorrow, and it will all be out of ignorance. That would be a real shame.
So take a few minutes before tomorrow and at a minimum email everyone you know about these big races where the choices are crystal clear.
None of us want to wake up on Wednesday morning to find a statewide GOP ticket loaded down with liberal retreads who would only destroy an excellent opportunity for Republicans this year.
